  1. I am almost entirely self taught. I did a short course at Napoleon Perdis Academy in Sydney. It was a good start if you were an absolute beginner, but frustrating if you already know how to apply makeup.

I did a lot of reading, a lot of experimenting, doing a lot for free, and offering my makeup services to whomever I could! A great place to start is doing bridal makeup, you get tonnes of experience, and the money can be good.

  6. Hi Amy. Could you please tell me where you got your make up training? I am a licensed cosmetologist and I want to pursue make up artistry. I don’t know which direction to look because as far as I know, the make up sessions are very expensive and I want to make sure I pay the right person.
    Thanks

  7. I don’t have it anymore. I think they changed the name of it, but it was translucent face powder.

I now use Mac’s loose blotting powder. Same sort of product.

  15. Are you sure it’s called Translucent Face Powder? ‘Cause I looked for it online and couldn’t find it. Then I went to a Napoleon Perdis outlet store to ask for it and the shop girls just looked at me like I was crazy…

  18. Aw! You’re such a sweetheart! My fave is Doris Day and Eartha Kitt. I love the cutesiness of their music! Do you sing yourself? I sing, but I’m more folky. I have a music channel too, aben3084, here on youtube.

  21. Have you seen my pink vintage pinup look? That’s probably more appropriate for someone with braces (I know about braces, I had mine taken off about a year ago!). Check out some of ilovegerardo’s hair tutes too to finish off the look!

  23. I wear my makeup like this to parties all the time! Minus the false eyelashes. I usually wear medium length ones, but ones that are quite full if I want to look retro.

  24. I use a mix of Napoleon Perdis and Mac brushes.
